Poker.pk sold for $2,250

PKNIC, the official registrar of .pk domains, announced in late 2005 that they will be offering name.pk domains (unlike .com.pk, org.pk etc). The initial land rush registration period was held from Dec 31 2005 to Jan 10, 2006. After the registration opened again on 20th June, many Pakistani as well as people abroad started registration. Within 24 hours, most of the valuable domains got registered, mostly for reselling purposes. One of them was poker.pk.

As expecte, poker.pk was registered by a foreign client. “Poker” is a very highly priced word for advertisers. After .com, only poker.pk is most valuable than any other domain name. It’s just like a domain television.tv, great.gr, wolfstein.ws etc.

Pakistan, a country where gambling and poker are illegal, poker.pk managed to get registered and sold afterwards for $2,250, according to DNS Journal. Let’s keep our fingers crossed to see what will be the fate of other catchy domains, like bank.pk, news.pk, music.pk etc.
